(I) Ecosystem / Habitat Assessment
(II) Fisheries Ecology / Exploitation
(III) Fish Health & Fitness
(IV) Fish Culture

  • Holly Mosco

    (she/her)

    Cohort 5- Winter 2025

Holly is a MSc. Candidate in the Predictive Ecology Lab under the supervision of Dr. Christina Semeniuk at the University of Windsor. She is examining the community interactions between invasive smallmouth bass, gaspereau and Atlantic salmon parr within the Southwest Margaree river, Cape Breton, NS. Hollys research aims to identify the early warning signs of stress in juvenile salmon using non-invasive sampling and transcriptional genomics.

  • Sarika Sharma

    (she/her)

    Cohort 5- Summer 2025

Sarika is a graduate student completing her M.Sc at the Great Lakes Institute for Environmental Research. She is co-supervised by Catherine Febria (Healthy Headwaters Lab) and Karim Malik (Geovision Lab). Her research applies drone technology and machine learning as ecosystem monitoring tools for Phragmites management. Co-created with conservation practitioners, her project aims to provide an economical, scalable, and transferable protocol that informs invasive species management and safeguards aquatic habitats across the Great Lakes region.

  • Izzy Tormasi

    (she/her)

    Cohort 5- Fall 2024

Izzy is a MSc candidate under the supervision of Dr. Christina Semeniuk at the University of Windsor. Her project focuses on the environmental and behavioural drivers of smallmouth bass invasion in the Southwest Margaree River in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia. Her findings will provide a better understanding of the movement and distribution of smallmouth bass in the Margaree watershed and can be used to work toward creating an integrated approach for managing the invasive species.
